Using the PENUP app

The PENUP app is a digital art app that comes pre-installed on many Galaxy devices, including the Samsung Note10. It allows you to colour, paint, and trace pictures, as well as interact with other artists and view their artwork. You can even set your favourite artwork as your device wallpaper.

To get started, open the PENUP app and log in using your Samsung, Facebook, Google, or Twitter account. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Galaxy Store or Play Store. Once you're logged in, you can open a colouring page or a blank page. You'll then be prompted to select a canvas and can tap "Start drawing".

To select a brush, tap the brush tools at the top of the screen and choose from the available options, including watercolour, oil paint, and calligraphy. You can then adjust the brush settings to your liking. To choose a colour, tap the Current Colour icon (the circle) in the top right corner to open the colour wheel. You can then either tap a colour on the wheel or rotate it by dragging your finger. You can also minimise the colour picker by tapping the square in the top right corner, and it will appear in a pop-up window.

Once you've finished your masterpiece, you can post it to your PENUP account by following the on-screen instructions. You can also save it as a draft by tapping the three vertical dots in the bottom right corner and then tapping "Save".

Selecting colours

To select colours while painting on a Samsung Note10, follow these steps:

Firstly, open the Samsung Notes app. This is the app with an orange icon and a sheet of paper outline inside. You can usually find it on your home screen or in the app drawer. If you have an older version of the app, called S Note, the process is similar. S Note has an orange icon with a white "S" inside.

Once you've opened the app, tap the "+" icon to create a new blank note, or open an existing note if you want to draw on that. Then, tap the drawing option, which looks like a pencil, from the toolbar at the top of the screen.

Now, you can select your colour. Tap the rainbow-coloured cylinder near the top-right corner of the screen. From here, you can drag the cursor to your desired colour and tap "Done". You can also tap the arrow on the right to expand additional colours. If you want to select a colour from an image, use the dropper icon to duplicate it.

You can now start painting with your chosen colour. Simply drag your finger on the note to paint. You can also use your finger to erase parts of your drawing by tapping the "Eraser" tool and using your finger or stylus to remove sections.

If you want to add more than three colours to the toolbar, go to "Settings" > "Customise Toolbar" > "Samsung Notes Settings" > "Customise Toolbar". Here, you can increase the number of default colours to four or five.

Opening the App and Creating a New Note

Locate and open the Samsung Notes app on your device. The app icon is orange with a white "S" inside. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. Once the app is open, you can create a new blank note by tapping the "+" icon, usually located at the bottom of the screen.

Accessing the Drawing Tools

Using the S Note app

The S Note app is an older version of the Samsung Notes app that may be installed on some phones and tablets. It is identified by an orange icon with a white "S" inside.

To paint using the S Note app, start by opening the app and creating a new note. You can do this by tapping the "+" icon, which will create a new blank note. Alternatively, you can open an existing note to draw in.

Once you have your note open, tap the "Pen" icon at the top of the screen. This will open the Pen Settings menu, where you can customise your pen tool by selecting the pen type you want to use. The options include fountain, calligraphy, ballpoint, pencil, highlighter, and brush.

After selecting your pen type, you can further customise your brush by adjusting the shape and size. To do this, tap the desired shape at the top of the menu, and then use the slider to increase or decrease its size. You can also select a colour by tapping the rainbow-coloured cylinder near the top-right corner of the screen and then dragging the cursor to the desired colour.

Now that you've selected your preferences, you can start painting by dragging your finger on the note. You can change the brush attributes, such as size, shape, or colour, at any time. If you make a mistake, you can tap "Undo" at the bottom of the screen to delete the last action. You can also tap "Eraser" to put your pen tool into erasing mode and use your finger to erase parts of your drawing.

When you're finished, tap "Save" at the top-right corner of the screen to save your artwork to S Note.
